New at Sweet Twee Lab and a Holiday Pledge

Hello everyone!

I am getting back into the swing of things and am nice and motivated to bring fresh new goodies to the shop!

I've been out of commission for a while now. I knew raising a little one
would be hard work, but I guess I didn't know what hard work was until Ady
came along!

I have been working on this latest addition to the Sweet Twee Lab kits for
ages and am SO excited to share it with you all!

This is not a papercrafting kit, it's a handmade doll kit to make your own
cuddly snail (minus the slime).

Here is Sylvester the Snail. His favorite things are toadstools and
sunshine. Sometimes he looks up into the sky, grins, and imagines he can
fly...

You will receive all of the materials and instructions to bring Sylvester to
life. Some beginner sewing experience is assumed, but if you have any
questions I will be more than happy to help.

Sylvester measures 9.5-inches long and 9-inches tall. Much larger than your
regular garden snail.

I've also been making wedding guest books like mad! They are SUPER cute! The brides just are so imaginative and really inspire me to create the most wonderful books! Here is my latest favorite:

Ady is almost a year now, and is cruising around getting into EVERYTHING!
I've included a picture of her too. :)

Finally, I want to share my pledge to have a fun and successful holiday this year. Etsy is having a holiday boot camp, and one of the first things I vow to do is to take the pledge. So, without further ado...

I, Elke, pledge to participate in the Etsy Success Holiday Boot Camp to the best of my abilities. I vow to check in every week, do my homework and support my fellow Holiday Boot Campers. I will read the weekly newsletters and blog posts, check in on the weekly forum thread, read the weekly blog post, check off the checklists and salute the mascot. Custom Wedding Guest Book

So, I've been working on this awesome custom order and I'm just SO pleased with how great it turned out!

I made this handmade wedding guest book from a vintage book cover, my own handmade book cloth, custom designed inside pages, and a fabulous stitched cover design made from various vintage papers, patterned papers, and fabrics.

I wish I had a book like this for my wedding!

I love being a mother because I have a little monkey to share joy with every day. I get to say and do things I never thought I'd ever do or say. Like, for example, saying "good girl!" when she lifts her leg and rips a fart. Or "don't put the dog's tail in your mouth". Or "don't bite my boob!" I get to smile and laugh a million times a day. I get to teach her and she get's to teach me. These are just a few of the millions and billions of things that I love about being a mother.

Little Known Project Album Papercrafting Kit

On to some personal stuff...

Everything is going great with the baby! I am really getting excited about becoming a mother. It's becoming more real too as yesterday I got my very first completely random guy asking me when I'm due. Hurray for no longer looking like I'm getting fat and officially moving over to the preggo look! :)

We have picked out a name, but are keeping it secret for now. We bought the paint for the baby's room yesterday: a very playful vibrant green color reminiscent of kelly green. This room will be seriously cool. Think gnomes and mushrooms and woodland creatures. I will start a new blog in the near future to share the secrets that will be in this room...

June Kit and Add-on are up!

Hello!

I can't believe June is almost here already! The kit and add-on are just
uber cool this month! I've been waiting with baited breath for the new
Rebellious line to release from Prima, and it is finally here! It is so
punk and so industrial, and so HOT!!! :)

The main kit is called Steam Punk and features the patterned papers from the
Rebellious line, a really cool 12x12 transparency with gold glitter circles
from Prima, lime green lace, and really cool beard stickers from
imadeyouabeard's Etsy shop. The vintage papers are from all sorts of
industrial type books with calculations and illustrations about machine shop
practice, electroplating, chemistry, and steel construction.

The add-on kit is called Vinyl Ink and has some fantastic embellishments to
go with the main kit. Gorgeous Prima flowers along with some really cool
notecards that would make an awesome mini album! A robot vinyl decal, grid
rub-ons, vinyl fabric, and assorted hardware pieces also add to the fun.

Now for an update on the baby: IT'S A GIRL!!! I just couldn't wait to find

been planning the baby room décor (think gnomes and toadstools) and am
starting to make all sorts of fun dolls and quilts and wall art for the
room. I plan on starting a new blog to feature what all I make with
tutorials and pictures.

Hello everyone!

Sorry for the LOOOONG delay. Life has been crazy.

We had a fantastic trip to Holland to celebrate my grandfathers 100th
birthday. Being able to see my family again after 4 years was so very
special to me. On April 24th my dear sweet Opa left us forever and I will
always cherish each and every moment I spent with him. He was my hero.

On a lighter note, everything is moving along nicely with the pregnancy. I
have been extremely lucky to have avoided morning sickness during the first
trimester, and am now 16 weeks along and looking (and feeling) more than
slightly pregnant. :)

We have a gorgeous May kit that is called Butterfly Pause. It highlights
the beauty of spring, and features several new lines of paper including SEI
Mimosa and K&Co Wild Raspberry. The embellishments include Jenni Bowlin
Pearl Flowers, a rubber butterfly appliqué, yummy trim and fabric, a vintage
hat tag I picked up in Holland, assorted vintage book pages, and so much

So, first of all, Geekfest was a HUGE success! We had SO much fun scrapping all day and night! Some amazing layouts were submitted and we had 5 winners! I can't wait to do this again next year! I've already got some ideas brewing!

Second, my big announcement that I've been hinting about is that I am pregnant!!!!! This will be our first one that does not run around on all fours, drool, and shed all over the place. Well, it may end up doing all of those things, but it'll look a little more like us. I am now officially 10 weeks along, and I'm really really lucky not to be suffering from morning sickness. That is one of my least favorite things to do, so I am REALLY happy not to have to do it! I just hope that our little peanut comes out happy and healthy.

Now on to some business...

I have a sneak peek of the April kit for ya. It's up for sale in the Etsy shop (http://sweettweelab.etsy.com), and if you order it I will have the kit out to you before April 1st.

My opa in Holland is turning 100 on April 8th (GO OPA!!!) and my husband and I are going to live it up in Holland for much of April. That being said, I will leave my shop open, but will not be able to ship out anything after April 2nd until I come back on April 20th.

I am SOOO excited to reveal that Sweet Twee Lab will be celebrating Pi Day all day long tomorrow Saturday March 14th! It's Pi Day!!! Get it??? 3.14??? :)

I will have all sorts of super geeky science and math inspired challenges all day long!!!

This is in celebration of one of my favorite kit club website's WillowTraders.com. They are celebrating their 4th anniversary!!! All of the challenges will be posted on that site, under the 4th Anniversary forum topic. If you have never been to the site, you just need to set up a free account with some basic info and to win you need a minimum of 25 posts on the forum (which is super easy to get to, the forum is AWESOME!!!)

A Happy Woodland: Using the January Kit

Hello! I was just having fun using my January kit, and thought I'd share the loveliness that I made. It’s just so adorable! I took an old 78 record, painted and glazed it in a teal blue. I arranged the fabric handcut leaves in the kit and cut out some of the leaf fabric to make the foliage for the tree. I then cut a tree shape from the holographic paper, clouds from the gold Hambly paper, and cut up the Sukie post-its and one of the vintage book pages.

Guest Designer Call!!!

Are you innovative, fresh, and funky? Do you like bright colors and using non-traditional scrap supplies? Do you want to be a guest designer?

If you answered yes to all of the above questions, then YOU could be a Sweet Twee Lab guest designer!

The Sweet Twee Lab is looking for guest designers for February, March, and April.

Who is eligible to apply?

Anyone! Even international folks can apply. If you are outside of the U.S. and you are selected, you will need to pay a portion of the actual shipping cost that is in excess of the standard kit shipping charge of $7.

What do you have to do to apply?

Email to sweettweelab@gmail.com pictures of 3 recent (within the last 3-months) layouts, altered items, mini albums, or anything scrap related. At least one of the submissions must have fabric on it: either sewn on or used in some super cool way. Also, one of the submissions must use a non-traditional scrap supply in an interesting way (office supplies, book pages, game pieces, etc.) Please keep your files below 1000 pixels wide or tall.

Send the following information in your email along with the photos:
* Name, address, email address, and phone number
* List of kit clubs you belong to as well as any design teams you are currently on or were on in the past
* If you have a blog, send a link to it
* A brief bio (who you are, why you scrap, what inspires you, whatever)

Due date:

Submit all of this stuff to sweettweelab@gmail.com before 8 p.m Eastern Standard Time on January 14th. The winner for the February, March, and April Guest Designer spots will be notified via email by January 15th. If you are selected, please respond with your acceptance by January 16th.

What do you have to do if you are selected?

You have to play with your FREE Sweet Twee Lab kit, which will be mailed to you in the middle of the prior month. The February kit will feature awesome pretties from Imaginisce's Twitterpated line, Little Yellow Bicycle, Basic Grey, etc.

You will be required to make at least three different scrap-licious items with the kit. You will need to submit at least one creation via email by the last day of the month prior to your guest designer month, and the rest before the 10th of the month. You will also be featured in the newsletter and on the website.

Here is the sneak peek for the January kit, Walden Pond. This kit comes with all sorts of goodies reflecting on the theme of enchanted forests. December's Project Kit Peek!

December will be just a little different than normal. There will be a project kit with all the goodies and instructions to make your very own customized holiday wreath! Layouts using the November kit!

I have made a couple of layouts using the kit and have altered the mini album that comes with the kit.

The first layout is a fun one about my sweet Basset Hound Audrey and how she loves to stuff her mouth with stuffed "quackers" and whatever else gets in there (i.e. my husbands sock). I layered a bunch of the cool game papers with some of the pattered papers and cut one of the Beadles that I made in half so that it lays flat on the page. Those Beadles are beautiful!!!!

The next layout is one where I used the lyrics from a White Stripes song to document how we had zero trick or treater's this Halloween. I layered many different papers together and used the poker chips to the bottom of the page.

The last photo shows what I did with the mini album made from the Monopoly game board. I ran each of the pages through my sewing machine so that I was able to cut them in half to double the pages. I added extra book binding tape to cover the stitches, but any decorative tape should work if you don't have book binding tape. I attached the velvet ric rac and used a magnet behind one of the wooden bingo pieces to create a closure for the album. It fits perfectly in my purse and makes me smile when I look at it.

November Kit is up!!! Game Night Rocks!!!

Welcome to game night, the night where we all gather as a family, laugh, and enjoy a fierce game of fun. November is a fantastic month where family togetherness is important, celebrating our loved ones, and making memories that last a lifetime. I still remember the importance Trivial Pursuit had in my life, with my father being an encyclopedia of knowledge, and that one time I came REALLY close to beating him (let’s ignore that I was playing the children’s version, and I was in high school at the time, OK?)

November’s Sweet Twee Lab kit is full of really bright and retro papers from Tinkering Ink’s Retro Metro line, Sassafras Lass’ Happy Place line, and Kaiser’s Superhero line. The adorable chipboard mushrooms, hedgehogs, and other woodland creatures bring a smile to my face. They are REALLY too cute! Tinkering Ink has these awesome Beadles that make the coolest beads! You just twist them up and use UTEE or Glossy Accents to make super chic beads cool enough to wear. Oh, and the kit is stuffed with game related vintage treasures too. Some of my favorites include the Funny Bones oversized playing card, the gorgeous illustrations (think Alice in Wonderland) from a book published in the 1860’s, and the pictogram from an old Concentration game. I found this adorable mod birdie fabric and can’t wait to use it! Each kit also includes a handmade mini album that I made from a Monopoly game board.

Drum roll please..... September Guest Designer Revealed!

Oh man, there was some SERIOUS talent submitted for the September Guest Designer call! I want to thank each and every one of you that submitted! We had folks from all over the US, Canada, Germany, Singapore, the UK, Sweden, Australia, France, and the Philippines! I cannot believe the international turnout. Each submission had my jaw dropping on the floor, and it was really a very difficult decision.

There was one submission that just took my breath away, and after my husband resuscitated me I knew I had found the perfect designer for September.

I am honored to announce that Nathalie has been selected to be the guest designer!!! Nathalie is totally amazing and I cannot wait to see what she does with the September kit! She is from Hamburg Germany, is in her 30's, and lives with her husband and her bandicoot cat. She has a totally amazing blog (http://www.scrapbook-trends.com)! She also designs for Rose Moka (a new and awesome paper manufacturer that I hope to feature in a future kit!) Her stuff is so inspiring, and she is a master of using mixed media and other non-traditional scrappy techniques on her pages (which is SO my thing!)

August’s Project Kit is a trip down Road Trip lane, with a handmade album made by my own two hands that is to DIE for!!! You will get everything you need to make an awesome 12 x 6 inch album to celebrate one of those fantastic road trips you've taken (or will take). Those trips where you don't come back the same person and you have a new appreciation for life.

This album is also customizable! I have all sorts of fun items specific for individual states within the U.S. When you purchase your kit make sure to list your #1, #2, and #3 states and I will do my best to match it up. If I have some things for your first choice state but not enough to make it all match, I'll pick the remaining items from your second and third choices. If you have a specific town, park, or landmark that you want to feature let me know and I'll see if I have something special for that too.

Are you fresh, funky, and cool? Do you like bright colors and using non-traditional scrap supplies? Do you want to be a guest designer?

If you answered yes to all of the above questions, then YOU could be a Sweet Twee Lab guest designer!

Who is eligible to apply?

Anyone! Even international folks can apply. If you are outside of the U.S. and you are selected, you will need to pay a portion of the shipping that is in excess of the standard kit shipping charge of $7.

What do you have to do to apply?

Email to sweettweelab@gmail.com pictures of 3 recent (within the last 3-months) layouts, altered items, mini albums, or anything scrap related. At least one of the submissions must have fabric on it: either sewn on or used in some super cool way. Also, one of the submissions must use a non-traditional scrap supply in an interesting way (office supplies, book pages, game pieces, etc.) Please keep your files below 1000 pixels wide or tall.

Send the following information in your email along with the photos:
• Name, address, email address, and phone number
• List of kit clubs you belong to as well as any design teams you are currently on or were on in the past
• If you have a blog, send a link to it
• A brief bio (who you are, why you scrap, what inspires you, whatever)

Submit all of this stuff to sweettweelab@gmail.com before 8 p.m Eastern Standard Time on August 10th. The winner will be notified via email and announced on or before August 15th on the website (http://sweettweelab.blogspot.com). If you are selected, please respond with your acceptance by August 17th.

What do you have to do if you are selected?

You have to play with your FREE September Sweet Twee Lab kit, which will be mailed to you in mid August. The September kit will feature awesome pretties from Hambly, SIS TV, Etsy, Maya Road, etc. You will be required to make at least three different scrap-licious items with the September kit. You will need to submit at least one creation by August 31st and the rest before September 10th. You will also be featured in the newsletter and on the website (http://sweettweelab.blogspot.com).

August is almost here and I can't believe how quickly summer time zooms by! I am doing something a little different this month. Instead of a big papercrafting kit, I'm putting together a project kit that has everything you need to make an awesome album to celebrate your favorite road trip. I really want to make something that is a little more affordable for you in these tough economic times. The album is in the shape of a route sign and is approximately 12 x 6 inches with four thick watercolor canvas sheets inside. There are lots of goodies to add additional pages and with your purchase you will receive color instructions and pictures of my completed album for inspiration. I am featuring the new Making Memories Passport line as well as some Doodlebug Designs cuteness. The full reveal will be on August 1st at 8 pm Eastern Standard Time. Hope to see you there!

Using the Kits!

I just get so excited to play with these kits! I have made a birthday card for my mother in law and an inspiring mixed media piece too. I've put more pics in the Flickr group.

Here is the birthday card:I used acrylic paint and glaze to pain the front and back of the card a rich yellow and attached a long strip of the patterned paper to cover the length of the card. Inside is a cute cut out from the Britannica book page and the word enjoy.

Here is the mixed media piece called Far Away:

Here I used the bingo card, which is made from thick chipboard and is perfect for putting some lovelies on it and hanging on the wall. I snipped out some Future Librarians of America from one of the yearbook pages in the kit, used one of the super cute yo-yo's with one of metal vintage buttons, I layered the trims and sewed them together to hang off the bottom, and cut out some of the words from one of the military yearbook pages for the title. This piece speaks to me of woman's struggle for equal rights, as well as my own personal struggles. A positive message to remind me of the past and prepare me for the future.

Father's Day Cards

I used the kits today to make a couple of Fathers Day cards for my papa and and dad-in-law. I used the June main kit for everything except the letter stickers which came from the June add-on. I love the versatility in this kit to do both boy and girl stuff. The comic books are just so fun!

June is almost here! I can't believe how time flies! I hope your May has been as sweet as mine has been. This is my birthday month, and my birthday was the BEST! Yummy food, great gifts (including an AWESOME macro lens for my camera!), and a cookie cake with a unicorn! What girl wouldn't want a unicorn cake! What makes this even more awesome, August (my sweet husband) had to tell the girl and the cake place how to turn a horse into a unicorn. He he he. The horn on that sucker ended up being almost as large as his head! :)

Here are a couple of peaks. We are doing a main kit this month filled with super yummy Pink Paislee, comic book fun, Etsy finds, and some new Maya Road products.

Here is the Gnomeland Woods Sweet Twee Lab May Papercrafting kit! This kit makes me want to go live with the gnomes in my opa's backyard in Holland. Really. :)

The album for this month would make a fabulous Mother's Day gift. It is a paper bag album I made from a colorful vintage flour bag that includes 6 inside pages for you to alter. For my Mother's Day gift, I wrote a story about Miss Chickadee (my mama) who met handsome Mr. Cardinal (my papa) and the story of how she became a mama. I know if I were a mother (to anything more substantial than furry beasts) I would love to get this from my child.

There is also a full set of a Sweet Twee Lab exclusive Murder of Crows tiny die cuts. These are SOOO cute! It includes a total of 28 pieces: 7 positive crows cut from heavy Braille paper, 7 negative crows cut from heavy Braille paper, 7 positive crows cut from vintage atlas paper, and 7 negative crows cut from vintage atlas paper. The positive crows measure 1-inch long by 3/4-inch tall and the negative crows measure about 1 1/4-inches square.

I have included adorable owl fabric, super soft fleece, funky vintage scallop fabric, and a sturdy tweed that you can use on your scrapbook pages or use it to make something cute and plushy. I made an adorable stuffed owl for my kitty, put lots of catnip in it, and she is in a happy coma right now. :)

The patterned paper features the brand new ScrapWorks Magpie line. This paper is beautiful and is double sided too! There is also paper from the new Fancy Pants Sweet Spring collection and Basic Grey Mellow.

And the embellishments are fun too! Great cardstock alpha stickers from ScrapWorks (many different fonts and sizes), adorable chipboard birds from Scenic Route, a sheet of grungeboard, imports from Japan and Germany, really cute Maya Road trinket beads in birds and fruit shapes, and so much more!

And now, without further ado, I present the Alles Gute Sweet Twee Lab Papercrafting kit! This kit is really quite awesome, if I may say so myself.

The album for this month is a fun acrylic album that would look oh so cute filled with all the bits and baubles in the kit! There are two handmade Sweet Twee Lab clear epoxy buttons filled with teal and sparkles as well.

I have included fabric that can be used for embellishments, cut strips for ribbons, or even to create a cute little stuffed animal if you so desire. I always include some floss if you enjoy hand stitching, but if you {heart} your sewing machine that’s fine too.

The patterned paper comes from several different manufacturers including Hambly, Scrap In Style TV, Bo Bunny, and g.c.d. I’m a lover of the bold colors, so the cardstock is super bold compared to the paper. Love it!

And the embellishments are beautiful too! I love the Making Memories yummies and the sassy Ashley Wren label stickers are fun!

Oh, I am getting excited! Here are a couple of embellishments I made using some of the fabric, tulle twine, floss, and paper in the kit. On the little house you can see the Sweet Twee Lab hand cast epoxy button that is SO cute!

It's called Alles Gute!, which for those of you who took German in high school might remember as the super dated video geared to teach you the wonders of the German language... For those of you who do not know this gem of history, count yourselves lucky! :)

Oh, my heart sings with March's Kit! Each kit will come with a mini album front and back cover ready to fill with whatever you want. Here is a peak at what you can do with this kit. This is a cute album for me to "record" what new found music I have come across through the year (sorry for the pun). I think later on down the line, it will be too cute to see what music fads I was into!

Packed full of vintage and new goodies, I am swooning! I'm waiting for one last shipment to come in this week, and plan on the full reveal next Saturday (March 1'st).

This is a simple LO I made of my sweet husband as an adorable baby. I mixed the acrylic paint that's in the kit with wax medium to create a cool soft texture on the top and the vintage 1930's ledger paper sits behind it all with all its coolness.
